During the course, I will draw a monogram for myself, then working on the two letters J and C. I will work with pencil and paper splashing out a lot of different ideas. James Clough
A course by James Clough
James Clough is an English calligraphy artist who's been living and working in Milan for the past 50 years. After studying typographic design at the London College of Printing, he got his start in several publishing houses around London and Milan. In 1979, he made the leap to freelance life, specializing primarily in book cover design.
Throughout his career he has collaborated with numerous advertising agencies designing slogans, logos, and monograms. In 1991, he founded the Associazione Calligrafa Italiana (Italian Calligraphy Association) alongside a group of his peers. He currently teaches calligraphy, typography, and its history at the NABA University in Milan and writes about calligraphy and graphic arts for both Italian and international publications.
