“Cutting the Parts In this lesson, we're finally ready to start cutting out some parts out of wood. The first thing that we'll make is the shelves. We'll make those out of this sheet of plywood. As you'd remember from the mock-ups that we made, we decided that the shelves will be 50 cm wide and 24 cm deep. We need to decide which direction we want the wood grain to be on our shelves. We can have them like this, where the grain goes the same direction as the short side, or where the wood grain goes the same direction as the long side. I prefer it like this.
