“Dyeing Chamotte Hi. In this lesson, I’ll show you how to dye chamotte. We call it “chamota” in Spain. In Argentina, it’s called “chamote,” but it’s all the same. They’re small clay granules that are usually added to ceramic paste, usually to give it more elasticity. These pastes are often used a lot in sculpture. So when we need to make a piece in several stages, when we need the paste to be very malleable, we use this type of clay, which gives us more elasticity without the clay breaking so much. To make dishes, I also use a lot of pastes with chamotte, but mainly because my pieces now are...”
