About the video: About Me

Overview

“I studied architecture at Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. Although I acquired a solid technical background, after graduation I was thrown into a very competitive environment in which it was extremely difficult to get commissions similar to the projects we did at school. After ten years of participating in lots of competitions (I won more than 30 awards), the financial crisis hit - about the same time I became a mother. I finally decided to take a proactive role in the construction of my own projects. In 2014, I presented a proposition to the City of Dreams Pavilion Competition in New York, where competitors were intended to actually build their own pavilion with the support of volunteers. In this lesson, I want to share with you how that experience has allowed me to introduce stronger environmental aspirations in my designs by using repurposed materials and embracing a circular economy. I will also talk about how to take control of aspects like funding or the accomplishment of different projects.”

In this video lesson Izaskun Chinchilla Moreno addresses the topic: About Me, which is part of the Domestika online course: Eco-Friendly Pop-up Architecture. Learn to design small scale installations from scratch by exploring the principles of circular economy.

In this school, I discovered that my favorite combination of subjects was aligned with architectural studies. I loved the period that I spent in the architectural school. But I have to confess, that I w...”
