Fantasy Illustrations for Children

“Hello and congratulations on completing the course! I appreciate you joining me on this journey with creating fantastic children’s illustrations. In this lesson, we are going to review the steps so you can create your very own fantastical illustration. First, I taught you about finding inspiration from your own surroundings to create a fantastical children's illustration unique to you. After that, I showed you the various materials that I use to create my illustrations. Then I showed you different sketching and inking techniques to create lineart. We scanned our work and then used Procreate to color, edit the final piece. During this course, you have gotten the chance to learn the ins and outs of making a finished illustration using a mix of traditional and digital mediums.

We’ve reached the end of the course but hopefully not the end of your artistic journey. I hope you can use this course to expand your horizons when finding inspiration for your work. Oftentimes, the most fantastical elements of a piece can come from what lies on your desk or outside your window. I encourage you to seek out more and more references from places you least expect them for future projects you take on. I also encourage you to try and mix up your process, maybe trying to illustrate a whole scene using only traditional supplies or all in Procreate. Try digital studies along with the traditional ones. There are no written rules, just your imagination. I hope you enjoyed this course and learned something new from this process. I am so excited to see what you created. Although it may take time due to my freelance career, I will answer any questions and critique your work in the Domestika Forum to the best of my abilities. I also encourage each of you to give helpful advice to others in the forum. As a community, we grow by bringing each other up, not down. Thank you again and cheers to your work! ”
