“Hello and congratulations on completing the course! I appreciate you joining me on this journey with creating fantastic children’s illustrations. In this lesson, we are going to review the steps so you can create your very own fantastical illustration. First, I taught you about finding inspiration from your own surroundings to create a fantastical children's illustration unique to you. After that, I showed you the various materials that I use to create my illustrations. Then I showed you different sketching and inking techniques to create lineart. We scanned our work and then used Procreate to color, edit the final piece. During this course, you have gotten the chance to learn the ins and outs of making a finished illustration using a mix of traditional and digital mediums.

Julie Benbassat is an illustrator and self-confessed avid doodler who specializes in creating illustrations for editorial and publishing clients. She has been drawing since she was old enough to hold a pencil and, after being encouraged by her art teacher to pursue a career in illustration, eventually went on to study for a BFA in the art form at the Rhode Island School of Design. There, she discovered the storytelling properties of illustration which are integral to her work today.
Julie combines traditional and digital illustration methods to create captivating artwork for clients including The New York Times, NPR, PLANSPONSOR, BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network.
