“Materials Now that you now more about me, I'll talk about some of the materials I use when I illustrate. I use watercolor sometimes when I lay down my backgrounds. This is Schmincke brand. It's a bit pricey so you can use something cheaper. For brushes, I don't use anything fancy. I pick out what I like. I like these filberts because their shape blends well and holds a lot of paint. As far as other sizes, I mainly use a size 2. For detail, I even use this, a size 2 but a little smaller. I'm not loyal to any brush brand. Whatever you want to use will be good. I always have a pencil sharpener...”

Kayla has illustrated several books, including an interactive board book she wrote, Friends at the Firehouse, and her work has appeared in magazines and on posters. As well as this, Kayla sells her art prints online. Inspired by fellow illustrators, graphic designers and other creatives in her area, Kayla co-founded a working studio The Warren in Nashville, home to workshops, gallery shows, and other community events.
