“Basic and Formal Drawing Techniques II Now, we'll see the last three techniques that we'll use with graphite: circling, pointillism and rendering. Circling is a lot like scribbling, except that you get more space between the circles. You can make small circles like these or you can make them more oval. This is a technique that allows more stroke consistency and if we use a pencil like this one, a 4B, it helps us to get very dark tones very quickly. This is good for filling in large areas in our drawing. Putting more pressure on our pencil, we're able to get darker tones on the areas we need...”
