“Painting the First Layers In this lesson, we'll start painting. We'll start working on the first two layers of our portrait. I'll start with a size-six brush. If your portrait is smaller or bigger, I recommend a size three or one, or you could choose a bigger number. So I'll wet my pencil and I'll go for the skin color one that we made before. The idea is to use a wash. That's a water-heavy mixture with more water than pigment. It's a very soft mixture. I'll add more water and try it on my test paper. You'll notice it's very soft. We're going to use this to contour the eyes, nose, and mouth...”
