“About Me Hello. My name is AJ Alper, and I'm a portrait painter and I work in an "alla prima" style. I am highly influenced by painters of the past. Late 19th century realists who worked in -- also in an "alla prima" style. "Alla prima" painting is a form of painting where you paint directly with wet or thick paint, and you continue to work into the wet paint, till you get a finished result.
