“CREATING TONAL RENDERING In this lesson we're going to make a monochromic black and white version of the final piece. I find this helps specially on the more complicated illustrations to lead us into colour, it gives a greater sense of the depth, and kind of breaks it down between what's in the background what's in the foreground, and also things like shadows and highlights. I'm just going to use three tones: white, and almost black, and a tone in-between. The first thing I'm dropping in is the shadows on the lettering. This is really a quick process, you shouldn't take to long to do this. ...”
