Learn three easy tips to switch up the styles on a fashion shoot, with Angela Kusen
Styling is the art of transforming a design, idea or garment into something new with its own mood. When working on a fashion shoot, the stylist must help solve problems and know how to change the style of any of the clothes.
In this tutorial, Art Director and Fashion Stylist Angela Kusen teaches you three simple, quick ways to make things look fresh.
Find out how in the video.
3 Tricks for fashion shoots
1. Use a sleeve garter
Keep sleeves up with an elastic band or sleeve garter. You can hide it behind the fabric to keep the garment in the exact position you’re looking for.
Garters can also help give part of the garment new shape. Their elasticated strength allows you to mold the fabric into the shape you want, they’re useful for every day wear too!

2. Use safety pins and hooks to improve the fit
It’s super easy to taper a shirt or turn wide trousers into a cigarette style instantly: just use safety pins and hooks!
Consider how the blouse is cut to place your hooks without leaving a mark and avoid creating undesirable folds.

3. Adjust the fit with pins
Pins are a sewing atelier classic that can be really helpful on a fashion shoot.
It’s easy to adjust a pair of flared jeans to make them fit closer to the leg with a few strategically located pins.
