Start the course by meeting the founders of Lantoki: Sandra and Urko. They tell you about how this fashion-forward creative space came to be and show you some of the different people and brands that have influenced their work.

In the next unit, study some basic concepts to help you create professional patterns. Take a look at the types of garments that can be recreated and the materials you need to reproduce them at home. Then, learn a simple way to replicate a pattern that doesn't require deconstructing the garment.

Now it's time for the hands-on part of the course. Learn how to visually break down a garment by dividing into the number pieces it has and cuts you need to make. Recreate the pattern piece by piece, double check your measurements, and add pattern notches. First, try out this technique with a basic shirt and then repeat it with your favorite pair of jeans.

Start the next unit with some tips on the right kind of needle and thread for your sewing machine before learning how to sew the basic sections on a pair of pants. Then, sew the front and back pockets and the fly. Finally, stitch together your pants and add belt loops, a waistband, and hems to give your jeans that quintessential look.

What is this course's project?

Recreate your favorite jeans copying their pattern piece by piece without deconstructing them.

Urko Martinez and Sandra Liberal are the founders of Lantoki, and each hold a degree in fashion design from IED Barcelona (European Design Institute). After finishing their degrees, they decided to embark on an adventure and launch their own brand in 2010. And that was the beginning of Lantoki, a 2-in-1 fashion studio in downtown Barcelona that acts as both a store and workshop where Urko and Sandra design and sell clothing, patterns, and accessories.

The brand is known for creating women's clothing with a simple, unique, and minimalist design. They place great importance on the quality of their clothing making them with natural fibers and professional finishes.
