The fashion and conceptual photographer takes us on a lifestyle photoshoot around London
Emma-Jane Lewis (@ej_3) began her career as a wedding photographer before branching out into the world of fashion. She has won several awards and was even named one of Elle UK magazine’s top 12 UK wedding photographers in 2020. Her work has appeared everywhere from social media to high street campaigns, lookbooks, album cover artwork, and promotional material for celebrities.
Join Emma-Jane in this Domestika Diary as she takes us along on one of her latest lifestyle photoshoots in London.
“I’m going to do all natural light for my lifestyle shoot, and I want to make sure my kit is packed down as small and minimal as I can,” Lewis says, showing us her camera bag containing only the essentials for the day. She gets to London early to check out the locations and look for inspiration for her photos before the model and video editor turn up.
Lewis is photographing accessories, so she starts by taking plenty of close-up shots of the model, focusing on areas such as her hands, wrists, or chest, to really capture the detail of the pieces and make them stand out.
To keep them dynamic, the photos are shot across several different locations. Lewis always looks for ways the model can interact with her surroundings in a relaxed and care-free way, while including a mix of flattering outfits and natural poses that highlight the accessories.

In fact, the free and easy nature of lifestyle photography is what Lewis loves the most. Nothing feels too staged or controlled, and it’s a great way to be spontaneous and let your creativity flow.
