These Are the Design Apps the Domestika Community Loves

We asked the Domestika community on Instagram what their favorite design apps are, and here are the results

A good app can inspire you to start a new project, deal with those little repetitive tasks that take the fun out of your creative process, or encourage you to explore new techniques.

With this in mind, we asked the Domestika community on Instagram what their favorite design apps are; what programs help them to be more productive or creative. These are your favorites.

Mojo

Stories have become one of the main features of Instagram and a valuable tool to share creative projects. Fast-paced, fun to watch, and highly addictive, these snippets can be used to tell stories or show a technique. But it can feel a little bit constrained sometimes. Creating attractive designs requires time and effort.

Mojo solves this by giving the user hundreds of stunning templates to choose that create eye-catching animated slides, unlock new narrative avenues, and take stories to the next level. A great tool to boost engagement in all of your social posts.

Canva

Good design can be amazingly simple, and Canva is living proof. This app has thousands of templates to create pretty much anything, from more visually appealing Instagram Stories to logos, posters, birthday cards, and everything in between.

If you are not a design expert, it will help you get professional-looking results quickly and share them with the world with just a few taps. Basic functionality is free, but a subscription unlocks a myriad of fonts, images, and design elements to play with.

Adobe Illustrator Draw

If you're an artist, chances are you know Adobe Illustrator. It's one of the most used apps for drawing vector-based images and designs. Adobe Illustrator Draw is a mobile and tablet companion app designed to take advantage of a touch screen interface.

It includes the essantialtools artists are used to in other design apps, such as customizable brushes, curve editing options, and predefined shapes, such as comic bubbles or basic geometric forms. It also has perspective guides to help you create 3D worlds with 2D drawings.

Procreate

Procreate has quickly become popular with illustrators and visual artists, thanks to its low price, a large collection of tools, intuitive controls, and Pencil and gesture support for the iPad.

It's so good, in fact, that it has become kind of the standard among sketching apps. Not only makes it easy to begin illustrating, but it also has great features for sharing, including the option to create time-lapse videos of your creations.

Adobe Capture

Have you ever wished you could turn a photo into a vector image you could easily manipulate? Adobe Capture lets you do precisely that. Take any picture and use it to generate textures and vectors you can use in any of your projects; or get inspired by a color palette from objects in the real world and transform it into filters or themes to use in other design programs.

Capture will even let you identify fonts just by snapping a picture of any text. Even if it cannot recognize it, Capture will give you close alternatives you can use in your work.

Adobe Animate

This easy to learn animation software will bring your drawings to life in a snap. Extremely versatile, it's perfect for creating animations suitable for games, TV shows, or interactive web series and simplifies some of the most intricate traditional animation processes, like lip-synching on talking characters or camera movements on a scene.

Figma

Loved by designers worldwide, this tool has become an indispensable asset in UX / UI design. It simplifies the design process for web pages and app interfaces, with features like auto-layout, wireframe views, and customizable themes.

Even better, it allows teams of designers to collaborate seamlessly on big projects without the need to pass files back and forth.
