We run through our favorite February projects shared by members of the Domestika community
As we do at the end of the month, today we’re sharing our favorite projects shared by members of the Domestika community over the last 30ish days. Among these top projects, you’ll find projects by some of our course teachers and work that has been created by students on our courses, as well as personal projects. This month we’re sharing illustration projects, collage, animation, photography, embroidery, and editorial design. Which is your favorite?
Ground Zero by Carles Marsal (@carlesmarsal)
This digital illustration was created by visual artist and graphic designer, Carles Marsal. Just like his characters, we feel like explorers about to discover this post-apocalyptic world. You can learn to create fantastic scenes like his in his course, Secrets of Photomontage and Creative Retouching.

As part of doing the course, Digital Painting for Characters: Color and Light, graphic and web designer Úrsula López created this artwork entirely in Photoshop. In the link to her project, you can see the entire process, from sketching to post-production.

Digital #Collage Late 2019 by Gabriel Suchowolski (@microbians)
Creative director Microbians has published a new series of digital collages with a color palette and motifs that reference technology, introspection and the power of ideas. It is accompanied by the following quote: “With time, all grow stupid, lazy, useless and distracted by a screen that dictates their lives to the second”– Edgar C. Gira por España (On tour in Spain) by Ana Victoria Calderón (@anavictoriana)
Ana Victoria has started touring around Spain to present her new book, Armonía de Color para Artistas (Color Harmony for Artists). As part of the promo, she created this illustration in watercolor with floral motifs and typography. Find out more about her tour in the project link.

Shroomy by Illya Tkachenko (@illko)
Illya is a Ukrainian designer and animator who is passionate about motion graphics. This is her final project from the course, Vectorial Animation Frame by Frame Style with After Effects. Her project includes sketches and layouts that she created in Adobe Illustrator that she used as references for her final animation.
Nina by Carolina Carettin (@carol_carettin)
Carolina is a journalist, but a couple of years ago she started embroidery. This piece is a project from her course, Needle Painting for Beginners. In her project, she goes through her process from sketching her expressive pet’s portrait to embroidering the design.

Agramunt by Fátima Puig (@fatima_puig)
Fátima has always loved pop-up books. As part of a project for the course, Pop-Up Book Creation, she created this book using images of different iconic places around Agramunt in Spain. Each page has exciting pop-up effects, transforming it into a unique, playful object.
From Madrid to Heaven by Silvia Hijano Coullaut (@silvia_libracos)
This pop-up book takes us to places such as El Matadero, El Retiro and Gran Vía in Madrid. Silvia is passionate about books and founded her own workshop/studio, Libracos. This is the final project from her course, Pop-Up Book Creation, in which she will show you how to create your own book.

Time Management Disorder by Dorin Olaru (@dorinolaru)
Dorin shares the process they followed to create this self-portrait, which depicts a person who works under a lot of pressure, from Austria. Their work channels their daily routine, and how to stay calm when things frustrate you. It is their final project in the course, Conceptual Self-Portrait Photography.

Steampunk Pinocchio by Joel Santana (@themaddhattr)
Joel is an illustrator and character designer with ample experience in advertising, animation, packaging and concept art. In this modern reinterpretation of the beloved children’s character, he shares how he went from sketching the concept to adding light, shade, textures and the final render. You can learn about his techniques in his course, Digital Painting for Characters: Color and Light.
