About the video: Illustration of a tree
Overview
“I chose a tree, took a picture and took me to the studio some live elements to take as a model and thus be able to illustrate the general shape and some of its main elements. For these pages I use watercolor pencils and direct watercolor. In addition I will make a graphic composition inspired by the elements of the tree, it is not just about faithfully copying natural species in our diary, what has more value is to inspire us and experience new forms from them.”
In this video lesson Paulina Maciel · Canela addresses the topic: Illustration of a tree, which is part of the Domestika online course: Botanical Watercolor Sketchbook. Explore and interpret the natural world by combining watercolor with graphite pencil and fineliners.

Paulina Maciel's first encounter with watercolor was at university while she was studying design. It wasn't until a few years later that she decided to deepen her knowledge and explore nature through this technique with professional training at a watercolor academy. Her first commission was a wedding invitation for some friends and since then, there have been many more, although not always related to wedding stationery. Her training in design has given an extra boost to her illustrations, enabling her to apply them in all kinds of projects.
