Botticelli was an Italian Renaissance painter and although his work is mostly figurative, it's his background and floral paintings that I really love. The detailed and delicate backgrounds in Primavera has been a really big influence for some of my own embroideries, especially ones where I'm working on dark fabric and I want to use various shades of green to either bring elements forward or knock them back.
