About the final project for: Pattern Creation for Unique Sleeves

Pattern Making for Unique Sleeves

“Congratulations on finishing this course. I hope you have found it interesting and learned a lot. You've learned to make a simple blouse with eye-catching sleeves. Now it's your turn to create your own beautiful blouse. Let me show you an example of how I would like to see your course project process: The Pattern Start by printing and assembling the blouse pattern that you can find in the course materials. Alternatively, you can use another blouse or dress pattern you already have. Find a size closest to your measurements and make any required changes to the pattern to perfect the fit.

Experiment! Experiment with different sleeve designs using the half-scale pattern. Just remember to divide each measurement in half. Start with the main sleeve styles in unit 3 and then explore different versions of them. There are many ideas! Don’t be afraid to come up with your designs and test them. You don’t need to commit to anything at this point. Just be creative and see what comes out! Lastly, pick the sleeve style you like the best and draft the pattern in full scale. You can also modify the blouse design itself to make it more unique. Now that you have both the blouse and sleeve patterns ready, it’s time to make the final toile to see what your design looks like and to see if there’s still something to adjust. You don’t need to finish the hemline and neckline when making a toile.
The Project After seeing the toile of your blouse design, you should know the fabric you’d like to make it in. Is this a special occasion blouse or something more casual? A winter or summer blouse? Would it look nicer in a plain or patterned fabric? Now that you have the final pattern and the fabric, you can sew your blouse! Having already sewn the toile should make this round easier. Finally, evaluate if the sleeve shape will need support. Choose the one that adapts the best for your sleeve. And so your blouse is ready. I’m sure it will look gorgeous!
Thanks again for taking my course. I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures. So, once your project is ready, share it on the forum by clicking the "Create your project" button. I will look at your publications as soon as possible and answer any doubts that need clarification. In the meantime, I encourage you to see what your fellow students have been up to and comment on their posts. See you soon!”

“We have reached the end of this Domestika course. Congratulations on completing it! I'm so happy that you decided to learn how to draft sleeve patterns. In the previous lessons I taught you the basics of those patterns and showed you how to modify the basic sleeve block. Then you learned how to sew the sleeves and attach them to the bodice. I showed you how to modify each design and how to alter the details. Finally, we talked about different ways to sustain the sleeve shape. I hope you enjoyed the course and learned something new about sleeve patterns in the process. Now it's your turn to ...”
