“In this lesson, I want to introduce you to my major influences. the potters who helped me get here or who influenced my work to get to the point it is right now. The first influence I want to talk about is Mark Ferris. He was my teacher in grad school and actually the reason I went to that grad school. Mark was the first potter who I saw who was working almost exclusively with slabs. before seeing his work, I had mostly seen work that had been made on a wheel, so throne work. Mark inspired me and almost gave me permission to investigate slab building further, just because he does it so well...”
