About the final project for: Fundamentals of Pattern Design

Fundamentals of Pattern Design

“We have reached the end of this course. Thank you so much for taking part in it. It has been a great experience sharing my creative process with you! Now you can take the skills you learned to create your own patterns for personal projects or your professional portfolio. I can't wait to see your designs! Complete your project if you haven't done so already, and present it. My project can serve you as a reference, but I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique collection of prints of your own. As a reminder, I've summarized the main steps you should follow to complete your project. Inspiration Choose the inspiration for your collection and gather some photos. Build a mood board and write down or sketch any ideas you have at this point.

Sketching Begin to sketch the motifs that you plan to use in your collection. Remember to search for additional reference photos so that you can draw from a picture instead of an artist's work.
The Hero Print Create your hero print by arranging your sketched motifs in a layout. Finalize the motifs, put the pattern into repeat, and select the final color palette.
Coordinating Prints Create the rest of the collection by creating multiple coordinating prints (secondary and blender prints) that support the hero print. Once you have finished, look at the collection as a whole and test how all the designs work together.
Presenting Your Work Last, decide what you wish to do with your collection. You can upload your prints to print-on-demand sites and order products with your patterns, or you can create mock-ups and showcase your work in your portfolio. Remember to share your work on social media as well!
And don't forget to present your finished project in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. Domestika has a great community where we are all looking to grow and learn. So join in, share your process, ideas, and doubts, and comment on others' work. I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. See you in the forum! ”

“So now that we have reached the end of the course, I want to thank you so much for joining me. I really hope that you had as much fun as I did creating your own collection, and I hope this inspires you to create future collections as well. I just want to leave you with a few final tips that you can keep in mind when creating Choose a topic that you really love, and you will make the process so much more fun. Start sketching at the beginning of the process when you have a ton of ideas. It is always better to have too many sketches than not enough. Remember, if you do not use every single ske...”
