About the final project for: Creating Comics with Compelling Visual Narratives

Creating Comics with Compelling Visual Narratives

“Congratulations on reaching the end of the course! I hope these lessons have been a helpful source of knowledge and inspiration on your path to drawing comics. As you work on your course project, let's briefly review the main steps to follow and some key points: Character Design Develop your characters and a story that shows off what makes them interesting. The Layout Try thumbnails of several different panel layouts until you find one that has the action and drama that you're looking for. Remember to keep the narrative easy to read with a clear focus, and use framing, camera angles, and panel sizes and shapes that emphasize the action and drama that you want your story to have.

Drawing the Figures Use a pencil to transfer your layout onto your final paper and draw your characters in place. Focus on anatomy, perspective, and the character's personality, and make sure the characters look consistent from panel to panel.
Drawing the Environment Draw the environment around your characters. Keep in mind the personality of the setting and how it brings the most out of your characters.
Inking Use ink to complete your drawings with nice, clean, black-and-white line work. Be sure to use lighting and texture to control the drama of the scene, and really bring your story to life!
To share your finished project, simply click on the button "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result and the steps that have led you to it, adding a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. I encourage you to engage with the forum and ask any questions you have about the process, or ask the opinion of other students from the course. Make sure to give feedback to others who are sharing their projects as well—you can learn as much from helping other people solve their problems as you can from them helping you. I hope you enjoyed our time together and that these first few pages lead to more dramatic and exciting action scenes in your future comics! See you soon! ”

“ Final Project Thank you for joining me here on Domestika. I hope you had fun working on your project as I had on mine. Keep the four principles of character design in mind, silhouette, color, contrast, and personality. This will help you tell meaningful stories. Remember, above all, K-I-S-S, Keep It Simple, Stupid. Ask yourself, what initially sparked your interest in telling stories? How did you discover art and what got you excited about it? Find that magic of your inner six-year-old. I know that sounds corny but sometimes corniness is good. After all, Batman wouldn't be as cool as he i...”
