“So the next stage of painting that I do by hand is spattering. This will really help start to bring the creature's skin into a more realistic realm. I'm going to start off with the very thin white. I'm going to thin this down with denatured alcohol and water. Quite a bit because I want it to be quite thin. I'm going to mix up some of this. I'm going to mix up some Antelope Brown, which is a very kind of yellowy greenish brown, a very warm color. I'm just going to put a tiny, tiny little amount in here because it's a very, very strong color. This one I can thin with isopropyl alcohol. Let me...”

Jordu Schell is a U.S.-based fantasy artist with decades of experience under his belt. Inspired by fantasy films of the 70s and 80s, designing creatures has always been the most exciting thing in the world for Schell. He got his big break in Hollywood in 1989 when he was hired to assist on a low-budget movie called “The Bride of Re-Animator.” From there, his career took off; he worked as a sculptor and designer on “Edward Scissorhands,” “Predator 2,” “Men in Black,” “Alien: Resurrection,” “The X-Files Movie,” and many others. Notably, he masterminded Neytiri, the lead heroine in the Oscar-winning film, Avatar.
