About the final project for: Build Your Creative Brand

Kickstart Your Creative Career

“We have now come to the end of the course. Thank you for completing the lessons so far! I hope you have enjoyed learning about the various ways you can grow and develop as a creative professional. It's now time to bring together everything you have learnt and apply it to your course project. The project requires you to curate a 4-page PDF portfolio to showcase your best projects. Here are the most important steps to remember: Choose Your Projects Review your work and choose the projects that you're most proud of, the ones that spark joy—not necessarily the work you have created for paid clients. Choose up to 8 pieces of work for your portfolio. Remember, less is more! Create Your Own Project Taking inspiration from our examples and case study, write your own mock creative brief and create a new project for your portfolio! As discussed, these projects should challenge you to come up with exciting ideas and demonstrate your design thinking and creative skills. Essentially, a self-initiated project is your opportunity to show a prospect or potential client what you can do—the only limit is your imagination! Examples of self-initiated projects might include: • Packaging design for your favourite brand of chocolate • Postcard prints inspired by a trip or holiday • Large posters to promote a local farmers' market • Customised sneakers or jacket painted with Posca pens • Cover design for a recipe book Take the opportunity to create something new and include this project in your new portfolio. Apply Your Branding Use the branding created during the course to inform the design and style of the portfolio. Consider the colour palette, choice of font, and layout carefully. I recommend landscape orientation for PDF portfolios, so they can be viewed on screen. Remember to add your logo to every page. Curate Your Portfolio Bring all your projects together and lay them out on screen. Are the projects working together harmoniously? Do they complement one another? Practise arranging your projects on screen in different ways until you strike a good balance of colour, scale, and composition. Use the examples provided for reference. Add Your Contact Details Finally, don't forget to include your contact details (email and portfolio website). This is a small but essential detail.

Once you have completed your project, remember to upload it to the forum and share it with other students. You can do so by clicking on 'Create your project'. The Domestika forum offers a great opportunity to join the community, get feedback, share your progress, and take part in the discussion. I will personally review your projects on a regular basis, and I can't wait to see the fantastic work you produce in the course! Good luck with your projects, and I look forward to helping you kickstart your creative career! ”
