“ How to Apply Gold Leaf In this lesson, I'll show you how to apply gold leaf to your bumblebee. The reason that I apply gold leaf both to some of my watercolours and charcoals is it gives it a bit of bling and it shines beautifully as well. The problem is if we apply the size, which is the stuff that sticks the gold leaf on directly onto paper or card, then it sinks through. We have to prep it first or prime it with acrylic.
