“ Taking the Photo: Indirect Daylight After placing your stand-in food, if you feel it's too contrast-rich, bring in a diffusion. When it comes to contrast, it's a matter of taste. I placed the diffusion on it. I feel that it's quite lovely with it. It's not as hard. It's also nicer on the leaves, so I will keep that in. Now that I've placed the food, I also saw I need a bit more bounce and light coming back in for the food itself, so I've placed the mirror to strategically bounce light back into the darker area. I've added another fill card here a bit closer to this salad to sweep in a bit...”

He credits his creative practice to the natural landscapes and minimal design he grew up with in Switzerland, as well as the culture of dedication and patience that he experienced traveling to Japan.
Alongside working with clients, he teaches food and beverage photography at events such as the International Food Photo Festival in Spain and Denmark. He has also shot several cookbooks including Plantlab which was awarded #1 Cook Book of the Year and Best Food Photography of the Year at the Gourmand International Cookbook Awards. His work has been featured in Lürzer's Archive's 200 Best Advertising Photographers Worldwide 12 years in a row.
