“Work in the round In this lesson we will look at a number of specific techniques to crochet amigurumi. You will see that we will use the same basic stitches that I showed you in the previous lesson. The amigurumi are based on a round work. To start our work, we use the magic ring technique. Now I'll show it to you. Hold the ball in front of you and twist the thread on one or two fingers of the hand to form an X. Use your thumb to hold the thread in place, pass the crochet under the thread closest to you, turn the yarn around the crochet hook and pass it under the first thread. You now have ...”

Ilaria Caliri is a crochet designer who learned to knit, crochet, embroider, and sew at a young age. She studied architecture at university, but gradually discovered her passion for handicrafts and began to explore the art of amigurumi. In 2010, she decided to share her passion by starting a blog about it, which grew into a full-blown website by 2016, named after her personal brand: Airali design.
Ilaria spent several years living in London where she had the opportunity to work with textile artists as well as in a yarn store. She has published several books and currently collaborates with business and publishers as a freelance designer. She also runs her own online store where she sells digital patterns for anyone who wants to crochet their own amigurumi.
