About the video: Rough positioning of the road and material

Overview

“Once we know exactly what we want to do and have chosen our main elements, we can use Cinema 4D to roughly distribute the models in our scene. In this lesson, I'll show you how to start by creating the road.”

In this video lesson Fabian Oberhammer addresses the topic: Rough positioning of the road and material, which is part of the Domestika online course: Sci-Fi Scenes in 3D with Cinema 4D and OctaneRender. Learn to design 3D scenes by creating an image of a city with a futuristic atmosphere filled with fog, light, and realistic textures.

“Rough Positioning of the Street and Materials In this lesson, I'll show how you can distribute the models into your scene. The main element in the scene will be the person in the center, but we won't begin with that, rather with the plane that will later become our street. That way we can easily place the model correctly. The plane will be our so-called Ground Layer Object. We will add a plane here. When you click on this cube and hold, a menu appears with all of the Peripherals. Here, we're just searching for this plane, and loading it into our scene. For a street-scene, I'll basically use...”

Fabian Oberhammer, also known as The Dizzy Viper, is a 3D artist from Italy. He works as a freelancer in stage visuals and album covers, is a crypto artist, and also works in his family's travel agency. His field of expertise is scenebuilding and lighting in Cinema 4D and OctaneRender, especially working with fog, neon, and atmosphere. His renders have caught the attention of car companies like Maserati, McLaren, and West Coast Customs, as well as musicians like Excision, Skrillex, and Meek Mill.

It was through music that he found his way into 3D design; while looking for album art for his work, he decided to create his own. For several years now, he has continued to hone his skills and composes renders from start to finish on a daily basis. Thanks to his projects Abandoned Supercar and DRFT, as well as his YouTube tutorials, his popularity in the industry has been constantly growing. The puddles he created are now used by well-renowned figures such as Sarper Baran, Tom Coben, Clint Jones, Corridor Crew, and Mograph.
