“Traditional French Wire Embroidery In this lesson, I will explain a traditional technique of goldwork embroidery, which is embroidering with French wire on a felt-padded surface. This is one of the techniques that I use very often because French wire is one of my favorite materials and because the felt padding brings out all its shininess. French wire is made up of a very thin metallic thread which curls up in spirals and forms a small tube.
