About the video: Experiment 3: Wood and Polyester 1
Overview
“In this experiment we will focus on making color transitions and color gradients. We will also use hot water with synthetic rit dye to color the polyester sheet material. The process will create sky gradients and color mixing. ”
In this video lesson Lex Pott addresses the topic: Experiment 3: Wood and Polyester 1, which is part of the Domestika online course: Product Design: Experiment with Color, Material, and Shape. A course by Lex Pott
Growing up in a household with artist parents made Lex aware of his desire to pursue an artistic career path from a young age. After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven, Lex opened his self-titled design studio in Rotterdam in 2009, where he started to work on a variety of projects, creating both one-of-a-kind and mass production pieces.
His method focuses on testing the boundaries and properties of the materials he uses most: wood, stone, and metal. Combining form, function, and fun into each object he creates, Lex experiments and develops unique pieces through his raw and intuitive methodology. He has worked for various international labels and clients.
