“Using guides and Creating Your Lettering In this lesson, we'll set up guides in Illustrator to draw our typography. You need to do this to make sure that the lettering is typeset correctly. I'll start with the word "Madrid". I'm just going to make a new layer here. I'll call this layer "GUIDE LINES". I want to make sure I'm on a black stroke for my colour. The fill here has a line through it. There's no fill. I'll start by drawing the top curve of the word "Madrid". I'll only draw half of the curve and then duplicate it to make sure it's symmetrical.
