About the final project for: Expressive Illustration and Lettering for Editorial Design

Expressive Illustration and Lettering for Editorial Design

“Congratulations on making it to the end of this course! You now have all the tools at hand that you're going to need to create a stunning book cover design. I really hope you had fun learning something new and working on your very own artwork! Before you dive into your final project now, I'd like to remind you of the things to pay special attention to. Start your project by researching and defining your principal idea. I would highly recommend you to create a mood board: It will be your guide and support throughout the process.

Once you have a vision of your final project, sketch out your book cover design in Procreate on the iPad.
Once you're happy with your sketch, it's time to create your final artwork using Adobe Illustrator.
Finally, export your project and share it with the world!
I would really like to see your book cover design in the forum! Post it there by clicking on the button "Create your project". I will wait for you with feedback and advice―just keep in mind that it might take me some time to answer. In the meantime, I'm sure your fellow students would love to help out as well! Try to interact with them and answer to their posts―you will see how fulfilling, inspiring, and encouraging it can be to support each other. Creativity is even more fun when shared! Of course, please also feel free to upload your cover to online platforms for the world to see! To do so, you can use the hashtag #JustinPoulterDomestika. Again, I want to thank you for your active participation and engagement. See you in the forum!”

“Final Project Thank you for taking this course. I hope you learned good tips and you had fun. For my book cover, I decided to do a travel guide to Madrid. You can do a travel guide to any city or even a book cover for any book. Don't be afraid to experiment when combining illustration styles and typography. Before I go, let's do a quick run through of the steps in this course. Before sketching, we took time to study on mood boards and define the art direction for our project. We used Procreate to create our sketch and then moved into Illustrator. We created our linework, added bright colour...”
