“ Practicing Stitches As you can see, I've already transferred the stitching pattern onto my hoop and it's ready to stitch. Now, I'll start with the backstitch. I chose green. I will take enough length of my thread, which is a bit longer than my elbow, and I will cut it. The reason I have this length is that if it's too short, it's not enough and if it's too long, my thread will tangle. This is almost the right size, the right length.
