Embroidery Techniques for Floral Patterns on Felt

Defne Güntürkün is an artist and textile designer from Istanbul, Turkey. She studied textile and fashion design and completed a Master’s in art at the Mimar Sinan University of Fine Artists in her home city. She went on to work at a design company and discovered a passion for embroidery that changed the course of her artistic career. Defne began experimenting with different techniques and developing her own style before leaving her full-time job to become a freelance textile designer. After posting her work on Instagram, she found a community of fellow artists as well as a loyal following that led her to open her online shop.

Alongside selling hand-embroidered buttons, brooches, initials, portraits, and patches, Defne continues to share her work with over 150K followers on Instagram. Her embroideries have also been featured by the likes of Ballpitmag and Sarah K. Benning.
