About the final project for: Embroidery Techniques for Floral Patterns on Felt

Embroidery Techniques for Floral Patterns on Felt

“Well done! You have reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you for taking part and I hope you enjoyed it. It's now time to work on your project. This could mean completing the pattern you started or making a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me understand your creative process and guide you better if you need advice. Here are the main steps to follow: Preparation: Tools and Inspiration Gather your materials for the project. Follow my tips on which materials to use and make sure you have all the necessary ones. Bring together your inspiration images and work on your composition. You can do a paper sketch or trace from the image itself. See which composition pleases you the most.

The Color Palette Choose the color palette you want to work with and incorporate enough shades of your main colors. Transferring the Pattern Now that your pattern is ready, transfer it onto the fabric using your preferred methods. Before starting to work on your project, practice all the stitches until you feel comfortable enough to apply them to your composition. Ensure your fabric is placed onto the hoop tightly so you can work comfortably. Stitching the Pattern When you are ready, decide on the stitches you'd like to use for your leaves and flowers, using the shades of your selected colors. If your composition needs more detail, feel free to add some flourishes.
Once you have finished stitching the main elements, consider what kind of decorations you want to add to frame your work. You can use a ball chain, like me. Or you can create a threaded border with a couching stitch. Cutting Out the Patch Now you should be ready to cut out your patch. To do so, take your fabric out of the hoop, draw an outline around the finished work, and use sharp scissors to cut it out. Then, get your garment ready to apply the patch. Make sure there are no wrinkles on the fabric. Use a back stitch to attach your patch—with a matching thread to the color of your base fabric. Place your stitches close to the border of the work so they are not very visible. Finish stitching and secure your thread (on the side that will be hidden).
And that's all! I encourage you to share your work in the forum. You can do so by clicking on "Create your project". I'd like to see your process and the final result. I'll be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I'll try getting back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community! If you share your work on Instagram too, don't forget to tag my account, Domestika's, and also to add the hashtag #DefneGüntürkünDomestika. That way, I can find your posts much more easily! See you there.”
