They categorise according to the hair into two main difference types: soft hair and hard hair. Soft-hair are usually made with goat hair, which is soft and also it's good at ink absorption. However, it's too soft for beginners. The tip of the brush will not reform every time you write a letter. Calligraphers usually use this type of brush for large characters.
