Criteria in Food Styling, with Marcela Lovegrove | October 1 | 4:00 p.m. (MAD)

In food styling, it’s not the tricks that matter most, but rather your judgment: what you’re looking for before you begin, how you learn to observe, and the decisions you make as you build an image.

In this Live session, Marcela Lovegrove will draw on real photos and scenarios to show what goes through the mind of someone working in food styling: what to include, what to leave out, how to compose the shot, and the role that lighting, framing, and perspective play in every decision. Throughout the session, she’ll reinforce a central idea behind her work: food styling doesn’t exist in isolation—it exists for the camera, and that camera dictates what we do and how we do it.

If you have any questions or specific scenarios you’d like to work on, please send them in before the live session so Marcela can address some of them during the session.

How to Sketch to Build an Image, with Jorge Lewis | October 6 | 4:00 p.m. (MAD)

He’ll discuss how the drawing changes depending on the materials and tools used, including the red sketch he frequently employs in his work. He’ll also share the processes and rituals he follows to arrive at an illustration, as well as the positive outcomes he’s discovered through them.

In this Live session, Gabriel Perelman will share a practical approach to understanding the metrics that really matter and using them to optimize campaigns. You’ll learn how to categorize metrics based on their objective, identify where a problem lies within the funnel, and use a simple framework to decide when to optimize, scale, or pause a campaign.

Create with 3 Basic Crochet Stitches, with Relmü Tejidos | October 8 | 4:00 p.m. (MAD)

You don’t need to master dozens of stitches to crochet beautiful pieces. With the single crochet, double crochet, and slip stitch—three of the first stitches anyone learning to crochet masters—you already have enough to create textures, shapes, and complete garments.

In this Live session, María Jesús Labbé, textile designer and founder of Relmü Tejidos, will show just how far you can go with these three basic stitches. You’ll see how to combine them, how the result changes depending on the yarn and hook you choose, and how small variations open up very different possibilities from the same starting point. She’ll also share her recommendations for materials and her tips for achieving a more even and neat finish.

Avoid the Most Common Mistakes in Video Game Modeling with Marina Pais | October 20 | October 16

In this live session, Marina Pais will focus on 3D modeling for video games using Blender. She’ll explain the basic differences between general-purpose 3D modeling and game-oriented modeling, and share some of the environments she’s created for actual video games, along with the reasoning behind them. Finally, she will demonstrate the basics of integrating Blender with Unity, the video game engine she works with.

Writing Based on Form with Natalia Méndez | October 28 | 4:00 p.m. (MAD)

In this Live session, Natalia Méndez will explore some fanzines and book-objects to reflect together on the relationship between form and content. She’ll then teach you how to create a simple yet powerful format, and based on what that format invites you to do, she’ll suggest writing exercises to fill it out. You’ll also see different options for the same format, so you can give your project a unique and personal touch.
