Sketching People with Watercolor
“Thank you so much for following me this far! I hope I've helped you achieve your goals as an artist and move forward with new projects. To facilitate the organization of your project, I have prepared a list of essential steps: Choose an appropriate photo Avoid very diffused or low-contrast lighting if you are inexperienced. Everything gets more difficult when you have to be very subtle with the colors. Make quick drawing studies Try not to destroy the paper by erasing it multiple times or getting it too dirty. Not all details need to be represented at all times. If you prefer, do pencil studies on a separate sheet and then recreate or transfer the drawing to watercolor paper with a light table. Make studies in sepia or color If you need more security, do studies in sepia or quick studies in color. It's easy to get lost when you're first painting a reference, and studying beforehand can help. Start painting with light tones, going through medium ones until you get to dark ones With the final pencil on the watercolor paper, start by painting the lightest shades, working from top to bottom and working your way across the entire figure. When you're done, make sure the paper is dry, repeat the process for the midtones, and so on until you're done. Remember: in the beginning use light tones, lots of water and large brushes. In the end: dark tones, little water and small brushes.

To paraphrase my maestro Gonzalo Cárcamo, "The reference is the starting point; it is never the ending point." If you’re not satisfied with your first attempt, try again. Try another reference, try to paint something else. Achievements may ...”
