Now that we have a refined sketch that we like that has the illustration resolved as well as the hand-lettering and we feel ready to move forward with it, the next thing to do is to consider the way we use color in this piece. Lisa Perrin is an illustrator, hand-lettering artist, and professor based in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born in New York and went to college there, achieving a BFA in Drawing and Painting. She later went on to study a Master’s in illustration at MICA where she now works full-time as a professor.
Lisa has worked on over thirty book covers as well as for clients including Macy’s, Anthropologie, Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Macmillan, The Saturday Evening Post, and Krispy Kreme. Her work has also been recognized by The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, 3X3 Magazine, and Print Magazine.
