About the video: About Me
Overview
“In this lesson I will introduce myself briefly, showing some art I’ve done and projects I’ve been working on. Then I will explain one of the core theories of my pedagogy: talent doesn't exist. Kids all draw the same at first, then practice over the years makes the difference between the “talented” and the others. This practice can be passive (sheer observation and visual curiosity) or active (the actual fact of drawing).”
In this video lesson Jean Fraisse addresses the topic: About Me, which is part of the Domestika online course: Drawing 101: Introduction to Digital Illustration. Explore the foundations of illustration by learning the techniques to draw from observation and from your own imagination.

“About Me Hi, I'm Jean Fraisse. Some of you might already know me from my previous Domestika courses, so I wanted to change slightly this presentation and I'll talk about my professional background and career and I'll also focus especially on one of my core teaching principles, which is talent simply doesn't exist, it's just a matter of practice. Jean Fraisse
A course by Jean Fraisse
Once he finished his studies in graphic design in Paris (France), and got rejected from renowned animation schools, Jean Fraisse decided to learn about illustration on his own and began applying it to his work for advertising agencies. It was then that he decided to get into freelance work and started working for major clients such as Marinela and Televisa.
In 2015, he got in touch with HuevoCartoon, a widely-recognized Mexican animation studio, where he worked as their Art Director and Production Designer for over five years.
Today, part of his time involves sharing his knowledge and showing others how he learned illustration and animation through a project called Canvas. In the last eight years, he has also taught classes in several schools and workshops.
