About the final project for: Invitation Design for Events

Invitation Design for Events

“We have reached the end of the course! I hope you have learned and, above all, that you have wanted to design. I have taught you everything you need to know to be able to design some invitations. Now choose your clients. The process works for any type of event and you can choose either an actual one or a made-up one. I suggest that you avoid choosing my clients since you will learn much more if you start from scratch. Before starting to work, think about whether your invitations will coexist with other graphic design elements, because if so, you must make sure that all the pieces work coherently and in unison. Take into account factors such as the decor, the flower arrangements, or the dishes. Investigate what styles and trends are being applied in the design of invitations, so you can define what suits your project best. If your invitations are for an event for an established brand, the first thing you should do is to study its style manuals and other related design projects that the brand has previously developed. Once you start designing, keep in mind that the budget that your clients want to allocate to the project is going to condition your work. You may not be able to do everything you would like, as some printing and finishing techniques cost more than we might imagine. When this happens, I encourage you to experiment with manual techniques, which will surely have a lower cost and can add extra value to your work: the value of what is done by hand. Next, I am going to review the different phases to follow to develop the final project: Inspiration and concept Start your project by receiving and interpreting the brief, so you can easily deal with the entire creative process. Moreover, you will be able to tell a story through your work. Next, define a concept and prepare a mood board that will serve as a guide to choose the graphic elements of your design. This will help you overcome the blank page syndrome.

Graphic elements Using the mood board as a reference framework, go deeper into the references to define the graphic elements necessary for your project. As we have seen in Unit 3, I chose the typeface, the color palette, the tone of voice, the graphic style, and the design of a symbol.
Design Now is the time to give shape to all the ideas you have gathered. Continue sketching each element of the invitations. In my case, I worked on the illustrations using the collage technique and prepared the composition of three pieces: a card, a diptych, and an envelope. In Unit 4 you can see the step-by-step process.
Final result and presentation The design is finished, so I recommend that you spend time preparing the digital presentation for the client. In doing so, you will be able to leave a good impression on the client. To do this, you can prepare mockups, take photographs or even assemble a mockup of the invitations. Try to justify every step and decision you have made along the way during the presentation. I think it is essential that you take into account how you should prepare the files for printing as we saw in Unit 4. It is not something easy when you are starting, so do not despair if you think it is a lot of information, it happens to all of us. I'm sure that, with patience, you will learn to prepare for the perfect final arts. Finally, I encourage you to take care of the way you deliver invitations to clients. A good presentation can take the whole experience to the next level.
Now share your final project with all of the community by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share in the forum both the final result and the steps that have led you to it. It would be great if you showed a picture of each step and added a brief explanation about what you have done in each one. I'm looking forward to seeing how your invitations turned out! I will be on the lookout to solve any questions you might have. Anyway, I want to invite you to actively participate in the forum and interact with the community. We can help each other a lot by solving doubts and providing constructive opinions about our work. Thank you for joining me on the course. See you soon! ”
