About the final project for: UX Research 101

UX Research 101

“We’ve reached the end of this Domestika course. I hope you’ve learned the necessary tools to carry out a successful UX research. Before saying goodbye, I’d like to give you a few pointers to help you achieve your final project. As we have seen, you can use evaluative and generative research as well as quantitative and qualitative research. I used generative and qualitative research, but feel free to use the methodologies that best suit your research. Your project may be about a product that already exists and which you’d like to improve. In that case, you could use the evaluative research method. Or maybe you need to know what users are doing, measured through data and analytics. Then you would use the quantitative research method. After knowing what methods to use, you will have created the research plan, the living document in which you have formulated and answered questions regarding background, objectives, hypotheses, and methods. Then you will have chosen the right participants for your particular project, written out a discussion guide, and conducted your user research session. Feel free to upload any photos of your sessions! The interviews will have given you all the insights necessary for you to be able to visualize your results to make sense of everything you have gone through. I did mine through affinity mapping, using post its to help reveal trends, themes, and areas of opportunity for discovery and improvement. Please share how you have done it! Now you were able to create personas and your user journey map, let’s see what you came up with for the doing, thinking, and feeling elements and how they helped you discover opportunities for improvement. It is now time for me to say goodbye. Thank you for taking my course and truly I look forward to seeing all the steps you took to create your final project! If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer them in the forum. Goodbye!”

So before saying goodbye, I would like to talk about the different steps we took throughout this course to help you to get started with your final project. In the beginning, we talked about the differences between evaluative and generative user research, but also about quantitative and qualitative user research methods. So although I chose specific methods for my user research method, make sure to choose the methods that really fit with the project and wit...”
