About the final project for: Carved Stamps for Illustrated Compositions

Carved Stamps for Illustrated Compositions

“Congratulations! You have now reached the end of this Domestika course. Thank you so much for joining me and I hope you feel inspired to start carving. It's now time to work on your project. This could mean finishing the stamp you started by completing the course tasks or making a brand new project! Either way, I strongly suggest you take the time to gather inspiration and make a unique project of your own. Make sure to keep track of your progress with different pictures of each step. It'd be great if you could also explain the choices you've made along the way and tell us if you have any doubts. This will help me guide you better if you need advice. Before saying goodbye, here is some advice to help you finish your project: Tools and Materials First, organize your materials! Share in the forum what kind of rubber brands you like to work with, other useful tools, and good stores to find them.

Then, practice a lot! Use the templates that I left in the additional resources or draw a simple design to practice the carving technique. Inspiration Meanwhile, gather some inspiration for your design. Find motifs that mean something to you. That will make the whole process of creating your stamps more intimate and fun.
The Sketch Then, it's time to sketch your idea and take time to refine your drawing. All the work you do before you start carving will pay off in the end.
Transfer your drawing to the rubber carving block by using tracing paper and take a moment to plan before you start. Carving the Stamp Be patient with yourself and take things slowly when you carve. Remember, there are no rules when it comes to carving rubber. I am self-taught and I have applied my personal style to my carvings. It’s my personal taste that rules the decisions I take when it comes to choosing what lines to carve, creating contrast, and so on. You will find your own process too.
New Compositions Play around with different compositions and colors. Think about new ways to combine your stamps. Why not carve new stamps that will go together with the ones you just made to create new motifs?
I hope that I have inspired you to continue on your carving journey and to create your own compositions. When looking for new motifs to carve, I encourage you to keep a sketchbook and take the time to do things that inspire you. This way, you will come up with new ideas. Go to a museum, art show, or take a long walk. Why not bring your sketchbook with you? Don’t be afraid to share your projects in the forum! Please share tips and ideas with the other students. Once again, thank you so much for taking this course and I am looking forward to seeing what you create! You can share your work by clicking on "Create your project". I will be more than happy to answer any of the questions you might have along the way! I will try to get back to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, participate in the forum, comment on others' work, and interact with the community! See you there.”
