“Color Washing Now, let's start with the first step for our portrait: color washing the canvas. But first, I'll give you some advice. Remember to always paint thick over thin, otherwise, the paint might crack as it dries. Personally, I like to finish painting in parts to avoid leaving things for the next day and taking the time to mix colors to obtain the same tones. If you can't finish in a single session, leave your palette in the freezer. That way it won't dry, and you can continue the next day. You can even put the canvas in the freezer, if it's big enough.
