“Materials In this lesson, I'll show you different options for the materials you'll need for oil painting. I'll start with the painting surfaces. Canvas is the most traditional one and there are different-quality grades. There are synthetic ones, which I don't recommend because they tend to get a bit loose. This is quite taut - it's like a drum - but, if you use a synthetic canvas, it'll loosen as you paint and the canvas will warp as you apply paint and pressure on the surface.
