“Materials After the lesson about the tools, I'll now show you some of the materials that you can work on and on which I've worked for part of the prototypes in this course. The key material, the one that dominates in this course, is Wenzhou Chinese paper for calligraphy, it's rice paper. It's very cheap. We nearly all know the roll it comes in, the format it's sold in. Tubes that contain 25 or 50 meters of paper roll, different widths as well, and it's very cheap. The paper comes... in a plastic bag, in a continuous roll. I cut it in the format that I want. She is constantly experimenting with different materials and techniques, learning from fellow artists, and often borrowing from other disciplines.
Her work has received awards in Spain and other EU countries. Since 2006, she has been teaching her craft alongside Guadalupe Roldán at the studio she founded: Códex. Their studio has become an international reference in artistic bookbinding and is a space for exchanging ideas and knowledge where many bookbinders and artists from different nationalities have honed their skills and explored their creative potential.
