About the final project for: Upcycling with Embroidery

Upcycling with Embroidery

“We have reached the end of the course, thank you for joining me. I hope you enjoy embroidery as much as I do and will continue to experiment with your clothes. Over the course, you’ve learned about materials for embroidery and learned what piece of garment you can embroider on. Then you learned how to work with different fabrics: jeans, cotton, stretchy T-shirt fabric, find out where and why you need a stabilizer. Now you know all the basics: how and when you should use a hoop, easy ways to thread needles, how to secure the thread to keep your embroidery safe, how to choose the color palette. In Unit 3 you learned how to transfer a design on fabric and we embroidered one design on the garment. Then I showed you how to remove the stabilizer and how to care about embroidery. Finally, you’ve created your final project. Hope you will continue to experiment and customize your clothing. Don’t be afraid to take my designs and change stitches or recommended colors. I don’t believe in rules for embroidery. There’s a huge world of embroidery open for you. Maybe you want to use yarn instead of cotton thread? Go for it! I have had a lot of fun creating designs and teaching this course and I look forward to connecting with you and seeing your final projects. See you in the forum, and I’m here to help and answer your questions. As embroidery is my full-time job I have other clients and tasks to take care of, but I will get to you ASAP. Don’t be afraid to connect with other students. My practice shows that the embroidery community is very friendly and loves to share tips and opinions. Now share your final project in the forum by clicking on "Create your project". Remember to share both the final result of your garment and the steps that led you to it. It would be great if you could show an image of each step and add a brief explanation of what you have done in each one. That way I can give you feedback. On the other hand, if, apart from the Domestika community, you feel like sharing your upcycling creations with the world, you can upload pictures of them to Instagram with the hashtag #KseniiaGusevaDomestika Thank you very much for taking this course!”

“Final Project Welcome to the last lesson of the course. I'm really glad that you got here, and now you're part of the embroidery community. I want to say to you that this community is very welcoming and kind. We love to share tips, we like to share experiences. Communicate and don't be shy. Don't be a stranger. You're now a big part of this community. Embroidery can be frustrating, especially when you're in the middle of projects, but please keep going because in the end it will look great. I believe in you. Believe in you yourself. The final project summarizes the whole course, and I will ...”
