About the final project for: Editorial Portraiture: Light and Creativity

Editorial Portraiture: Light and Creativity

“Dear student, you have reached the end of the course and it is time for you to carry out your final project. In this course we focus on creating a series of editorial portraits in which you will use least three lighting schemes within your final project; in case you don't have studio lights you should replace them with the experimental portrait part. You can focus your final project on your favorite theme: fashion, beauty, personal project or any client you have, but always around the portrait . Now I will give you a brief summary of what we saw throughout the course so that you can develop it! An idea is born Choose an idea to develop in your portraits, we are going to take advantage of this course to exploit our creativity!

Mood board Create your mood board to start visualizing your project with images, find the team that will make up your shooting and socialize it. Remember to always soak up photos and nourish your eye constantly, so you will find your style and your tastes so that you can start your photography on your label as an artist. Once you have trained that, it will be easier for you to conceptualize ideas for your project and create mood boards .
The color palette Establish a color palette or an approximation to what you envision for your project.
Use whatever is within your power Explore with the materials at your fingertips to create sets that look very professional, remember that you don't have to spend money to have an interesting background in your portraits.
The shooting begins! Start doing the shooting with natural light and with the possibilities that it offers you. Depending on how the light behaves, use the tips so that your photos are well lit. Lean on your team, this profession is a work of group results and feedback. Take your time and don't settle for the time of the shooting , understand and watch the light. Always test in which way it looks best, so you will work calm and sure of the results.
The latest photos Finish your shooting with the lighting schemes that I showed you for study. Or if you don't have the equipment, take some more experimental shots for your portraits with all the homemade alternatives that I left you in the additional resources.
A diamond in the rough Select the photos that you consider best represent your idea of the project, and make a preset of development in Camera Raw that will serve you in the editing of all your photos and will help you optimize this process. Remember to include in your selection images that have not been perfectly taken to learn how to solve those common errors in editing. We are going to correct bad frames, compositions and details of the background or of the clothes.
The last touch! Finish your project with some color and selective editing settings that will flatter your portraits. Post your final project and share it with everyone!
Finally, keep in mind that the most important thing about your project is that you have a passion for doing it. Your experiences are the main reference of your work. Choose a topic that inspires you, that in some way you feel close or identified, our profession is about speaking through photographs, let your photos speak for you! I hope that with the tools that this course provides you will feel at the best of your creativity and your ability to create fascinating portrait photographs. See you on the forum! With love, Natalia Gw. ”
