I always had an interest in photography. As a child. i flipped through my father's Editora Abril "Nations of the World" collection. admiring photos from around the globe despite not being able to read them. Back in high school. i purchased a Yashica point-and-shoot film camera and already loved capturing our group barbecues with my friends. In 2000. i went to study journalism at the State University of Londrina....”

Gustavo Minas was born in 1981 in Cássia, a small city located in the State of Minas Gerais. After receiving a degree in journalism from the State University of Londrina, he went on to study the language and history of photography under Carlos Moreira in São Paulo and has been photographing the urban scenes of the cities he visits since 2009.
He currently works as a freelance journalist and photographer based in Brasília as well as teaching workshops across Brazil and abroad. In 2017, his photo series Rodoviária won the Picture of the Year LATAM award, in the category "The Future of Cities," and in 2019, he published his first book Maximum Shadow Minimal Light with Edition Lammerhuber, which was also exhibited in Hamburg that same year.
