About the video: Internal Patches
Overview
“In this lesson I will teach you how to incorporate patches behind a torn fabric. I will show you how to use in our favor the organic forms that stains or breaks in fabrics give us. I will begin by selecting a patch among my samples that contrast with the color of my garment, so that the hole has a leading role. We will do the same preparation as we did before and then incorporate the patch with some embroidery in relief. It will be a composition with several stitches (flat and raised) that will serve to fix the entire area of the patch.”
In this video lesson Ofelia & Antelmo addresses the topic: Internal Patches, which is part of the Domestika online course: Embroidery: Clothing Repair. Learn the Visible Mending technique and revive your garments using original embroidery pieces and patches that express your style.

“Internal patches Hello! In this lesson we'll work on the patch we started earlier. I'll show you how I fix internal patches and which is the first step I take. Using the black thread, I will create contrast between blue and orange... to make my repair more visible. I will begin. Remember, it is important to create a border on the entire outline of the tear. We extend it a little, a centimeter, and we start workin...”

Ofelia & Antelmo
A course by Ofelia & Antelmo
Ofelia & Antelmo is a project created by Gabriela Martínez—Textile Designer and Artist—which began in 2017 as a contemporary textile art project working across two formats: textile art and wearable art.
Textile art is where Gabriela explores her ideas using color, texture, stitches, and embroidery effects to create artisanal pieces with unique finishing touches that are resistant to wear and tear. Her aim is to focus on the quality of each piece, instead of producing high quantities. There is an intention of longevity in her work as a form of protest against the disposable, fast-paced world we live in today.
