About the video: Texture sketching
Overview
“Before starting I will explain a little about the visual language that I apply in my work. I will show you with physical examples how everything is governed by the randomness offered by the ease of the hand when embroidering, and I will tell you why I like to experience embroidery especially with simple patterns in repetition. I will explain with examples how I like to intervene organic results that I do not control, such as some staining, staining or holes. Later we will do a small exercise of ease with a paper and a pencil where we will make together patterns similar to those we will do with embroidery. The objective of this exercise is that you realize that there is no perfect way to put random stitches, those will come out naturally, but you will better understand the texture on paper and doing it in positive-negative will help you visualize better. ”
In this video lesson Ofelia & Antelmo addresses the topic: Texture sketching, which is part of the Domestika online course: Embroidery: Clothing Repair. Learn the Visible Mending technique and revive your garments using original embroidery pieces and patches that express your style.

“Texture sketching In this lesson, I'll share a bit about my sketching process. One of my main references are my photographs. I love taking pictures, specifically of nature, and I like to make many zooms, zooms of textures that seem interesting ...”

Ofelia & Antelmo
A course by Ofelia & Antelmo
Ofelia & Antelmo is a project created by Gabriela Martínez—designer and textile artist—in 2017 that started out as a contemporary textile art proposal presented in two formats that go hand in hand: textile art and wearable art.
Textile art is the starting point of Gabriela's process, in which she explores all her ideas for colors, textures, stitches, and effects, then seeks to bring them to life in handmade garments with wear-resistant finishes and stitches. Her main motivation is that quality prevails over quantity, and so she creates pieces that can be inherited as a form of protest at the speed at which the world moves today.
